WISCASSET – A Pittston man was arrested Friday for allegedly raping a 28-year-old woman.

William Ricker, 48, was taken into custody on one count of gross sexual assault involving force, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Rand Maker on Friday.

The alleged rape occurred early Wednesday evening in a motor vehicle in Waldoboro or Jefferson, Maker said, noting that Ricker and the victim knew each other.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation, which still is in progress, Maker said.

Further criminal charges are pending, he said.

According to a Lincoln County Jail officer, Ricker was released Friday on $1,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Monday, July 17, in Wiscasset District Court.
