ROCKPORT — Dave Matthews has been named controller of the Samoset Resort in Rockport.

Originally from South Portland, Matthews received an associate degree in hotel administration from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Southern Maine.

Before coming to the Samoset, Matthews was chief financial officer for the Portland-based development firm, the Ocean Group.

He and his wife, Karen, plan to live in Owls Head with their two children.
