U.S. Juniors win bronze

FUSSEN, Germany – University of Maine sophomore goalie Mike Dunham made 47 saves as the United States beat Czechoslovakia 3-2 in the World Junior Championships Saturday to earn the bronze medal.

The United States finished with a 5-2 record, which is its best ever in this tournament. It is the first medal for the U.S. since the 1986 team won a bronze.

Dunham was chosen to the All-Tournament team after compiling a 5-1 record, a 2.33 goals-against average, and a .932 save percentage. Maine sophomore defenseman Chris Imes also played on the team.

The Russians won the gold medal and the Swedes took the silver. Those were the only two teams to beat the U.S.
