Warriors slip past Huskies

PITTSFIELD – Laura Grumbach scored seven of her game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter as Nokomis of Newport rallied to outscore Maine Central Institute 14-7 in the period en route to a 57-51 schoolgirl basketball victory here Monday night.

Kelly Bowman scored 14 points for the 2-3 Warriors and Stacey Vigue tossed in 10 more.

Becky Vaughan and Cory Monday had 13 points apiece for MCI, now 6-3. Emily Walker had eight points and 10 rebounds, and Kim Fotter scored eight points.

For 10-0 Searsport, Bree Robert netted 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Robin Kelley also gained 13 rebounds for the Vikings. Howard was forced to leave the game when she was hit in the nose by a GSA player’s elbow.
