Folk ensemble performance set for opera house

ROCKPORT — “The Play of the Lady Odivere,” an ancient legend of the seal-folk from the Orkney Islands as translated and set to music by Gordon Bok, will be performed by an ensemble of Maine folk musicians at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, at the Rockport Opera House.

The musical tale is from 12th century Scotland, a poem of love, manipulation and betrayal, performed by Bok, Ann Mayo Muir, Anne Dodson, Euclid Hanbury, Paul Schafner, Bruce Boege, Will Brown and Carol Rohl. Instruments used in the production include laud, cellamba, flute, whistles, dulcimers and percussion.

Tickets for the performance will be available for $8 at the door, or may be reserved by calling 354-8928.
