Bucksport events coincide with visit from Navy ship

BUCKSPORT – The visit of the USS Tempest to Bucksport coincides with other state and local events planned for this week.

. Wednesday, June 12: 1-9 p.m., Sportsman Show at Bucksport High School. Then at 5:30 p.m., state moose lottery at Bucksport High School.

. Thursday, June 13: 5 p.m., 10th anniversary celebration at the Alamo Theatre including groundbreaking ceremony for the new Conservation Center at Northeast Historic Films. At 7:30 p.m., “Celebrating 50 Years of Television” at the Alamo.

. Friday, June 14: 8 a.m., flag presentation at International Paper Co. mill. At 3 p.m., Bucksport High School bands at the waterfront. At 4 p.m., flag disposal ceremony at the waterfront.

. Saturday, June 15: 11 a.m., Blessing of the Boats at the marina. Noon-3 p.m., chicken barbecue, behind the historical society building. Cost $5. Noon-3 p.m., music by the band BroJoe’s, at the waterfront. At 3 p.m., “Boating on the Coast of Maine” at the Alamo. And 5-8 p.m., music by the band Badge Reunited, at the waterfront.

All events are free except the chicken barbecue.
