A Culinary Hearts Kitchen cooking course, designed by the American Heart Association, will begin 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at St. Joseph Ambulatory Care, 268 Center St., Bangor.
The six-week course, offered by St. Joseph Ambulatory Care’s Diet Therapy Services, will cover preparation of low-fat, low-cholesterol foods. Offerings will include step-by-step methods of cooking both American favorites and international and ethnic dishes. Participants will learn how to cook meals low in fat, cholesterol, salt and calories, yet rich in natural flavor and zest.
Sessions will be included on meats and poultry, breakfast foods, soups, fish, vegetables and baked goods.
A wide assortment of recipes will be offered, and each step in the course will be illustrated by more than 250 slides of savory foods that are easy to prepare and good for the heart.
The $75 course fee covers instruction, copies of all recipes and taste testing of each sample recipe. Enrollment is limited, and pre-registration is required. To register, call 941-1794.
