Bay State man charged with trespassing

A Bedford, Mass., man was charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct after entering a Hemlock Street apartment and refusing to leave, officials said.

Jack Brewer, 35, had entered the apartment without the permission of the people living there just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday and had begun removing the screens from the family’s windows when the daughter who lived there found him and told him to leave, Bangor police Officer Erik Tall said. Brewer allegedly left the apartment, then tried to return through the rear door.

Brewer was “raising his voice and walking in circles” when police arrived and “insisted we could arrest him” when he was told he would be taken to Penobscot County Jail if he did not lower his voice and leave, Tall said. Brewer eventually left the property but returned minutes later, running across the lawn and banging on doors and screaming for “Tom” before police arrested him.

A Bangor man attempted to flee police early Saturday, but made it only from the back to the front of a house at 67 First St. before he was arrested, police said.

Police arrived after a complaint about a loud party, Officer Rob Angello said. Officers tried to get some identification from Ernest Bishop, 18, when he fled.

Bishop was arrested after police found that he was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a concealed weapon violation, Angelo said. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail where he was held without bail.

Several others allegedly kicked the teen while he was down but a club bouncer broke up the fight. The incident occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday

Police arrested a Dedham man Saturday evening and charged him with operating a vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants after they noticed that his inspection sticker had expired.

Police said they saw the blue Dodge Shadow parked with two men inside at the corner of Court and Ohio streets with the invalid inspection sticker and pulled it over after it had been driven to Union Street, officials said. Arnold Burgess, 41, was driving, and after failing field sobriety tests, a Breathalyzer found to him have a blood-alcohol level of 0.20 percent. The legal limit in Maine for adults is 0.08 percent. Burgess was released on his own recognizance.

Heat is believed to be the cause of what police initially believed to be vandalism in Hampden, police said.

Police were called to a Town Farm Road home Sunday morning when a man found that one of the side windows to his Ford pickup was broken out, Hampden police Sgt. Dan Stewart said. Officials, however, believe that a buildup of heat inside the truck overnight caused the window to explode.

The man told police he had parked the vehicle the night before with the windows rolled up, Stewart said. All of the glass was found outside the vehicle.
