A survey is inconclusive, especially when only 3,000 women speak for more than half the population of this country. Do you know anyone who was included in the Virginia Slims study? (“Women say most men are lazy,” BDN, April 26).
When the battle between women and men began more than 20 years ago, the issue was equal rights; admittedly progress has been made in “job opportunities, equitable salaries and acceptance as political leaders.” Now women have attacked the male mystique and the counter-attack has begun. Has lib gone too far? Have we lost our feminine intuition and power that has for centuries allowed us to understand, control and civilize the human male? It is time for diplomacy at the peace table; this is a war no one can afford to lose.
Who among us does not know and love a “kind, gentle and thoughtful” man?
We must hope a similar survey is not done by men. Equal rights? Thelma B. Ditzel Charleston
