Man charged in teen’s death appears in court

WEST BATH – A construction worker accused of killing a Brunswick teen-ager made his initial court appearance Monday in District Court.

Olland Reese, 19, of Bowdoin was arrested Friday night on a charge of murdering 16-year-old Cody Green. An autopsy found that Green died of blunt trauma to the head.

No plea was entered at the brief proceeding. Documents related to the case remained sealed and the state gave no indication of a motive for the slaying.

More than two dozen friends and relatives of the victim attended the session but declined comment to reporters.

Judge Michael Westcott did not set bail, and Reese remained in jail pending a bail hearing July 9.

Green was reported missing after a taxi dropped her off at the home Reese shared with his girlfriend and his mother. Green’s body was found behind the home last week, a month after she was reported missing.

Hundreds gathered in Brunswick for Green’s funeral over the weekend.
