Recent deployment

GULFPORT, Miss. – Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class David Perkins, 24, son of Gloria Vigue of Standish and Ronald Perkins of Winterport, returned to Gulfport, Miss., this month after participating in Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133’s most recent deployment. In the last seven months, the former Brewer man and the other battalion members worked more than 500,000 man-hours around the world.

Perkins, a 1996 graduate of Bonny Eagle High School in Standish, attended his first three years of high school at Brewer High School, He joined the U.S. Navy Seabees in 1997.

Recruiting duty

BANGOR – Staff Sgt. Gary Lausier, a native of Van Buren, has reported for duty as an Army recruiter at the U.S. Army Recruiting Center in Bangor.

Prior to his current assignment, Lausier was stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas.

BANGOR – Capt. Greg Turner took command of the U.S. Army’s Bangor Recruiting Station on June 28. A Change of Command ceremony was held at Cascade Park in Bangor.

Capt. Turner will succeed Maj. Kenneth Hobbs, who will leave for Fort Hood, Texas.

Bangor Recruiting Station is part of the New England Recruiting Battalion, which recruits in four New England states.

Basic training

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Samuel I. Rounds has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Richard Rounds of Hudson, and grandson of George Rounds of Taunton, Mass. He graduated from a home school program in 2000.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Joshua W. Grant has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base. He is the son of Warren Grant of Holden, and grandson of Earl Oak of Prescott Valley, Ariz. Grant is a 2001 graduate of Brewer High School.
