Calais came from behind to win the Eastern Maine Class C baseball title, upending Central of East Corinth 8-6, and Braden Alley pitched a no-hitter to carry second-seeded Jonesport-Beals to a 14-2 win over Machias and the EM Class D crown, highlighting regional final action Wednesday.
By virtue of the win, Calais advances to face Sacopee Valley of South Hiram (a 12-5 winner over Yarmouth in Western Maine play) for the Class C State title Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Hadlock Field in Portland.
Jonesport-Beals will take on Monmouth, an 11-5 winner over Forest Hills of Jackman in the WM Class D championship contest, Saturday at noon at Mahaney Diamond on the University of Maine campus in Orono.
Calais 8, Central-EC 6
At Calais, the fifth-seeded Blue Devils erupted for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to win the title and improve to 13-4.
Ray Fox’s RBI single was the first big blow of the sixth-inning rally for Calais. Matt Cassidy, who had belted a two-run homer in the third inning, was then intentionally walked. Chris Sherrard followed with a soft single to right that got away from the Central right fielder, scoring Fox. Cassidy then came home on a wild pitch.
Sherrard had three hits (a double and two singles), while Jason Parks added two singles. Fox was 2-for-3 with another single. Paul Napoleoni got the pitching win in relief for Calais.
For No. 6 Central of East Corinth, which finished 12-6, John Allen socked a pair of doubles. McLean Poulin added a double and two singles.

At Jonesport, Braden Alley fired a no-hitter and Shawn Johnson drove in three runs with a pair of doubles as the No. 2 seeded Royals cruised to the EM Class D title.
Jason Harmon and Elliott Peabody both drove in two runs with a double for Jonesport-Beals, which improved to 15-2. Alley struck out seven and yielded one earned run.
For No. 5 Machias, which finished 7-10, Cory Dennison plated Josh Goding, who had walked and stolen two bases, with a sacrifice fly. Dean Kilton also scored a run for the Bulldogs, reaching on a dropped third strike, stealing second and third, and coming home on a passed ball.
