ORONO – Kyle Mercer scored the winning run in the top of the seventh to lift the Brewer Falcons to a 4-3 American Legion baseball victory over the Orono Twins Wednesday.
Mercer hit a one-out single, got to second on a passed ball and to third on a groundout, and scored when Orono committed an error on a Jason Harvey groundball.
Chad Gomm scattered eight hits, striking out eight and walking three for the win. Mercer finished with two singles. Abram Allard hit two singles and Brad Dalton had an RBI single.
Ryan Levesque hit a two-run single for Orono. Shaun Tidwell singled twice and Bo Thomas chipped in with an RBI double.

At Calais, Kenny Campbell drove in three RBIs on a triple and a single to power the Shiretowners.
Alex English singled and had two RBIs for Houlton. Matt Day doubled and singled and Nick Cole hit two singles.
James Ramsdell led Calais with a double, a single and two RBIs. Jeff Dougherty hit three singles and Zack Ludington added two singles.

At Thorndike, Parker Tootill roped a pair of triples during an eight-run barrage in the third as the Wildcats outslugged the Navigators.
Deven Potvin singled twice, doubled and knocked in three runs for the winners. Pasco Grove and John Bonney each doubled, singled and knocked in a run. Nick Arthurs launched two singles and pushed across a pair. Tom Dennen had two singles plus an RBI, and Spencer Gordon cracked an RBI triple.
Seth Strout and Seth Gabarro each doubled and singled for Penquis. Brian White, James Gray, Ross Morrison and Joey Kane each had two singles.
