The Eastern Maine Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction has presented $250 scholarships to two Eastern Maine high school seniors, Shannon Gallant of Old Town and John-Paul Kucera of Steuben.
Gallant, daughter of Richard Gallant of Old Town and Patricia Gallant of Bangor, is a senior at Old Town High School and plans to enter Northeastern University in Boston to study engineering.
Kucera, son of John Peter and Doris Jean Kucera of Steuben, is a senior at Sumner Memorial High School, East Sullivan. He plans to study architecture and engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass.
The NAWIC is a professional construction organization with more than 9,000 members throughout the world. Members include business owners, architects, secretaries, engineers, accountants and building material suppliers, as well as those employed in the construction trades — subcontractors, welders, plumbers and carpenters.
