ROCKPORT — Two men were treated for minor injuries after a three-car crash on Route 1 Thursday afternoon.
Police Chief Forest Doucette said that Glen Wylie, 28, of Lincolnville and Wesley Young, 65, of Rochester, N.H., each were transported by ambulance to Penobscot Bay Medical Center where they received treatment for minor cuts and bruises.
The third driver, Timothy Cushman, 28, of Belfast, was uninjured in the collision.
Chief Doucette said the accident occurred at 12:31 p.m. Thursday in front of the Down East Magazine building on Route 1.
The chain-reaction accident began when Wylie, who was operating a 1987 Chevrolet pickup truck, attempted to make a left-hand turn into Down East.
Young, who was behind Wylie in a 1991 Plymouth sedan, apparently did not notice the stopped pickup truck and slammed into its rear end.
Cushman, who was behind Young in a 1986 Chevrolet four-door car, swerved to avoid the Plymouth only to have his vehicle roll onto its side and strike Young’s auto in the rear.
Young and Cushman were wearing seat belts. Wylie was not, police said.
Estimated damages to Young’s vehicle, which was totaled, were $13,000. Damages to Wylie’s and Cushman’s vehicles were estimated at $2,000 each.
No charges were filed, Doucette said.
