Hackett, Bangor outlast Lincoln Derosa single provides margin of victory in tight, eight-inning contest

BANGOR – Brian Hackett pitched a six-hitter, struck out 10 batters, and walked three to help lead the Bangor Senior League (ages 15-16) all-stars past Lincoln 3-2 in a District 3 winner’s bracket game at Mansfield Stadium lasting eight innings Sunday night.

Anthony Derosa’s single scored Tim Woodcock with the winning run in the eighth. Jordan Heath doubled twice for Bangor. Mike Larochelle and P.J. Dionne each hit a double.

Justin Whitney doubled and singled while Dillon Hanscom singled twice for Lincoln. Dan Langevin doubled.

Orono-Veazie 8, Hampden 3

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Sunday afternoon, J.T. Davis singled three times to help pace Orono-Veazie past Hampden in District 3 Senior League elimination game.

Kevin McAvoy had an RBI double and Alex Means notched the win with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

Calvin Elwell doubled to help lead Hampden.

At Harrington Saturday, Wade Hopkins pitched a complete-game four-hitter as Bucksport rolled.

John Harvey led Bucksport with a double, two singles and two RBIs. Joey Carmichael drove in two runs on three singles and Brian Clapper doubled, singled, and had two RBIs. Jason Legere hit a two-run triple and Robby Pushard hit a two-run double.

Robert Tenney drove in two runs with a double for Sunrise.

At Harrington Sunday, Josh Gott’s grand slam sparked a 15-run sixth inning as Coastal cruised to the win.

Coastal’s Blake Wessel knocked in four runs on three singles. Nick Ciomei singled twice and had two RBIs. Harrison Hines hit two singles and added an RBI.

Matt Tenan led Sunrise with an RBI single and Robert Tenney hit two singles.

At Harrington Sunday, Robby Pushard hit a solo home run in the sixth to help Bucksport edge Coastal.

Nye Gifford scattered four hits and struck out nine for the win. He also singled twice. John Harvey added an RBI single.

At Bangor, Eric White had a triple and a double with two RBIs for Brewer. Evan Nadeau had two singles and scored three runs. Brandon Gendreau doubled in a run.

Devon Lyshon had a triple and two singles for Bangor East. Will Johnson hit three singles and Josh Dyer tripled.

Greg O’Donnell hit a double, two singles, and scored five runs. Ryan Snow doubled and singled with two RBIs for Hampden. Jake Moore singled with three RBIs.

McCarthy allowed only one hit and no runs. In the top of the second inning, he walked the first three batters and then came back to fan the next three to end the inning.

Dakota Sleeper hit two doubles for Katahdin. Travis Casey had a triple and a single. McCarthy hit a single and a double and Kolby Gallagher doubled.

Tyler Tash had Lincoln’s only hit with a double.

At Bucksport Sunday, Tyler Stewart led the Bucksport all-stars to the District 1 championship with a triple, single, and two RBIs.

Carl Schiment singled twice and Abe Noyes singled in a run for Acadian.

Matt Little pitched a five-hitter and struck out 11 while walking five for Machias. Justin Weaver hit a triple and Bryce Colbeth singled for an RBI.

Jason Brooks doubled with two RBIs for Sunrise.

Joe Robicheau hit two singles for Bucksport and Cory Cushing singled and doubled. Matt Allison hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to get an RBI.

At Bucksport, Chris Edgecomb hit a pair of singles with one RBI to help Ellsworth beat Acadian.

Ellsworth moved on to Sunday’s game after Machias forfeited Saturday’s game with them.

Corey Smith doubled for Ellsworth and Owen Harding hit a single with two RBIs.

Kyle Shea and Ben Clark each hit two singles with one RBI for Acadian. Joey Cough singled and doubled. Sam Merrill had a single and RBI.

At Bangor, Zach Wilson hit a one-out double in the fifth inning, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a Ben Davis double to give Brewer the lead.

Davis also hit a triple and RBI single for Brewer. Zach Wilson doubled and singled.

Cory Estes hit a RBI double for Old Town and Jarrett Lukas doubled.

At Bangor, Hampden blew the game open in the sixth inning by scoring six runs with the help of Chris Morris’ two-run single. Brewer also gave up four walks and three errors in the inning.

Ian Lee hit three singles and a triple with two RBIs for Hampden. Jake Hitchings had two singles and Chris Morris had two singles and a double with four RBIs.

Ben Davis doubled and singled with one RBI.

Andrea Perry paced Milbridge with four RBIs on two singles and a double. Ashley Pennantz hit three singles and contributed three RBIs. Tasha Daily singled twice and drove in a run.

Alicia Lofton had two singles and two RBIs. Ashley Smith doubled in a run.
