FORT KENT – Dr. Simona Suchan of Northern Medical Center has met the requirements for certification in the advanced psychiatry practice of geriatrics as prescribed by the American Board of Psychiatry.

Suchan has been a member of NMMC’s staff since July 2001. She completed her residency in adult psychiatry at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, and her geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Dartmouth Medical School in New Hampshire. Last winter, Suchan began seeing patients at the Memory Disorders Clinic, where she provided diagnostic evaluation and follow-up care for those affected by memory impairments. She also visits with nursing home patients in the area.

FORT KENT – Alexandra Granville has been named director of social services at Northern Maine Medical Center.

Granville earned a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University in New York City and a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y.

She has been employed by NMMC since August 2001 and has pursued a professional interest in substance abuse and severe persistent mental illness as a licensed social worker with adult, adolescent and juveniles requiring inpatient psychiatric services.

Granville previously worked as a social worker in the department of psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
