Two dozen yachts will race across the Gulf of Maine as the third running of the Yarmouth Cup Race from Falmouth to Falmouth, Nova Scotia begins Friday.

The 170-mile race commemorates the gulf’s recreational importance to all communites on its borders.

Leroy Legere, the Nova Scotia Minister of Fisheries. will be on hand to welcome the winner of the race. A typical crossing takes at least 33 hours.
