Man sought in stabbing incident

MEDFORD — Police are looking for a 20-year-old Medford man who allegedly stabbed his wife and brother-in-law before fleeing on foot into woods in Medford Friday night.

According to Sgt. Larry Bickford of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department, Thomas Creighton, 20, and his wife, Mary, became involved in an argument at their residence on the Milo-Medford Road at about 5:30 p.m. During the argument, Creighton allegedly assaulted his wife, Bickford said.

Mary Creighton ran next door to her sister’s home, according to Bickford. Shortly thereafter, Creighton charged through the door, stabbing his brother-in-law in the left shoulder and his wife in the knee, Bickford said.

Two ambulances from the Three Rivers Ambulance Service from Milo and one from Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft arrived on the scene, but Mary Creighton and her brother-in-law declined to be taken to the hospital.

Sgt. Bickford said Creighton was still at large at 8:30 p.m. in the woods in the Medford area, but police believe that he was not armed. Members of Creighton’s family said they would try to find him and talk him into coming out of the woods.

Bickford said alcohol was believed to be a factor in the incident.

The area was blocked to traffic for approximately three hours. At the scene were officers with Maine State Police, the Maine Warden Service, Milo Police Department and the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department.
