Vaillancourt goal lifts Old Town past Orono

OLD TOWN – Angie Vaillancourt connected for an unassisted goal with 16:41 remaining in the first half, giving Old Town a 1-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over archrival Orono here Wednesday afternoon.

Danielle Folsom recorded her first shutout of the season, making seven saves on nine shots for the 4-2-1 Indians.

Cheryl Zoerheide made seven saves on 12 shots for 0-5-2 Orono.

Schenck 3, Central-EC 1

At East Millinocket, Shauna Beck and Heather Rosebush tallied unassisted goals to help lead host Schenck High improve to 4-2-1.

Kristen Chavarie scored off a Lisa Provenzano assist for the Wolverines. Keli Daigle made six saves on seven shots.

Sue Ann Allen scored off a pass from Cheri Greatorex to account for Central of East Corinth’s lone goal. Laura Hatch had 12 saves on 21 shots for the 1-5-1 Red Devils.

Searsport 4, Sumner 2

At East Sullivan, Molly Brown scored 1:48 into the second half, snapping a 1-1 deadlock and sparking Searsport to victory.

Amy Tripp had a goal and an assist for the 5-1-1 Vikings, while Jamie Murphy and Amber Howard scored one goal each. Joy Richard made nine saves on 12 shots.

Robyn Stevens notched a goal and an assist for 2-5 Sumner and Natalie Mason scored the other goal for the Vikings. Susan Lowe came up with 11 saves on 19 shots.

Hermon 2, John Bapst 0

At Hermon, Janis Adams and Liza Doughty each scored goals as the host Hawks blanked the Crusaders.

Tori Adams and Carri Downey added assists while Wendy Davis made eight saves on 10 shots as the Hawks improved to 2-4-1.

For John Bapst 2-5, Jaime Walls made 11 saves on 15 shots.

MDI 3, GSA 1

At Mount Desert, Nellie Fox scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Chafee Emory with 2:30 left in the first half, snapping a 1-1 tie and sparking Mount Desert Island to victory.

Fox also scored on a penalty kick for the 4-2-1 Trojans. Jamey Lewis made seven saves on eight shots for MDI.

Wendy Marcinkus scored off a Jaime Bowden pass for 4-2-2 George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill. Polly Dodge came up with eight saves on 17 shots.

Ellsworth 3, Bucksport 1

At Ellsworth, Kathy Davis, Rebecca Stanley, and Amy King scored the goals, powering Ellsworth to its third win against five losses.

Wendy Turner added an assist for the Eagles, while ‘keeper Biba Kunert made eight saves, facing 11 shots.

For Bucksport, 2-3-1, Jody Senter scored unassisted. Sherri Sanna made 18 saves in net, facing 21 shots.
