A terrible idea

In the article, “Blue Hill hospital studies controversial drug plan” (BDN, Feb. 22), Bruce Cummings, CEO at Blue Hill, wanted to sell prescription drugs to employees of the hospital who have major chronic illnesses. Patients of area primary care doctors who have asthma, congestive heart failure, hypertension and diabetes would be targeted.

Wouldn’t you know that a “lawyer representing Rite Aid” vows to fight this terrible idea – getting prescriptions into the hands of needing patients at lower prices. Where in the world is the head and heart of Rite Aid? This fight will bring them a lot of new and repeat customers.

In a recent issue of Newsweek, I see where General Motors is taking on the pharmaceutical companies to lower the prices of prescriptions to GM employees. Maybe between GM and the efforts of Blue Hill hospital we can get results that do not seem to be coming from Congress.
