Baileyville woman dies after Route 1 crash Car crosses path_of pickup truck

BAILEYVILLE – An 83-year-old Baileyville woman died Tuesday when the vehicle she was driving collided with a pickup truck on Route 1.

Around 10:30 a.m., Arline Lowe, driving a 1986 Pontiac, was traveling north on Route 1 when she tried to make a left turn into the Woodland Shopping Center.

The woman drove into the path of a 2002 Ford F350 truck driven by David Limacher, 34, of Eddington, Officer Shawn Newell of the Baileyville Police Department said Tuesday afternoon.

The vehicle was registered to Limacher’s company, Eastern Maine Builders of Eddington.

Lowe was pronounced dead after being taken to Calais Regional Hospital, Newell said.

Limacher was taken to Calais Regional Hospital, was treated and then released. Newell said Limacher’s passenger, Bryan Jazowski, 21, of East Corinth, was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation. Newell said it was unknown whether any of the three was wearing a seat belt.

The Baileyville police were assisted at the scene by the Maine State Police, the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, the Calais Police Department, the Baileyville Ambulance Corp. and the Downeast EMS Ambulance Corp.
