SKOWHEGAN – Redington-Fairview General Hospital will hold a one-day childbirth education class from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27. The hospital is located at 46 Fairview Ave. in Skowhegan.

Childbirth education classes are geared toward expectant parents who are in their 28th to 32nd week of pregnancy. Classes are taught by nurses trained in childbirth education, maternity care, breast-feeding and newborn care. Topics covered in the class include: stages of labor, breathing techniques, relaxation methods, comfort measures, role of the coach, postpartum care and newborn care.

The cost is $40 and is covered by most insurance plans, including Medicaid. Payment plans are also available.
