If, indeed, as has been alleged, Bill Clinton squirmed out of serving in Vietnam, he should be roundly congratulated rather than denigrated inasmuch as that conflict was a squalid thing in which we had absolutely no business. Thanks to oil and other private businesses, our government was cruelly seduced into a no-win situation to which there has never been — nor will be — a satisfactory conclusion. Fortunately, Clinton resisted ill-placed and jaundiced patriotism. Bravo, Bill Clinton! Robert H. Newall Hampden
