Scott leads ‘Cats to victory

Women’s College Basketball

PORTLAND – Veronica Scott scored 28 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to lead host Westbook College to a 72-56 victory over Green Mountain College of Poultney, Vt., here Monday in women’s basketball action.

Chris Grillon had 14 points and eight assists for the 6-1 Wildcats. Bobbi Jo Blodgett added 20 points.

For 1-1 Green Mountain, Julie Littlefield had 15 points, Dawn Renta added 12, and Heather Road scored 10.

At Standish, Sharon Rines’ 19-point effort helped lead the St. Joseph’s College Monks to the victory over University of Maine-Farmington on Monday.

For the 3-0 Monks, Danielle Bouchard scored 16 points. Jill Bourget and Sheri McCarthy each scored 15 points. Bourget added 11 rebounds. Stephanie Clark had 11 points.

Dawn Anne Higgins scored 17 points and Candy Berger added 14 for the 3-1 UMF Beavers. Marsha Hamlin had 11.
