Black (24 points, 13 rebounds) lifts Unity by EMTC 73-70

Men’s College Basketball

UNITY – Dale Black had 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Unity College Rams to a 73-70 victory over Eastern Maine Technical College of Bangor here Monday in men’s basketball action.

For the 5-2 Rams, Jason Boucher scored 14 points. Tony Therrien had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Joel Pratt added 10 points.

Aaron Weed scored 16 points for the 5-4 Eagles. Shawn Alley and Jim Brichetto each scored 13. Jason Powers added 10.

At Portland, Paul Peterson sparked a balanced offensive attack with 19 points to lead host Westbrook College to victory.

Derek Vogel tossed in 16 points, Cory McClure 12 and Andy Lennon 10 for the 4-0 Wildcats.

Greg Chelsea netted a game-high 24 points for 0-3 University of Maine-Augusta. Scott Bessey and John Suchur contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.

At Standish, Jamie Header and Ronnie Lamming each scored 19 points to lead the host St. Joseph’s College Monks to the victory over the UM-Farmington.

John Wassenbergh had 16 points and 13 rebounds to help pace the 4-0 St. Joseph’s Monks. Steve Schuler and Casey Costigan scored 13 and 11 points, respectively.

For the 2-4 UMF Beavers, Kevin Shaw scored 21 points. Dan Header had 19 points and Troy Norton added 11.

Chris Grillon had 14 points and eight assists for the 6-1 Wildcats. Bobbi Jo Blodgett added 20 points.

For 1-1 Green Mountain, Julie Littlefield had 15 points, Dawn Renta added 12, and Heather Road scored 10.

For the 3-0 Monks, Danielle Bouchard scored 16 points. Jill Bourget and Sheri McCarthy each scored 15 points. Bourget added 11 rebounds. Stephanie Clark had 11 points.

Dawn Anne Higgins scored 17 points and Candy Berger added 14 for the 3-1 UMF Beavers. Marsha Hamlin had 11.
