WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Charlie Gaffney scored a pair of goals and assisted on two others and twin brother Joe contributed a goal and three assists as the Bowdoin College Polar Bears beat Trinity College 6-1 here Saturday night.
Bowdoin is now 6-1 while Trinity fell to 3-4-1.
Mark McCormick and Richard Maggiotto had a goal and an assist for Bowdoin; Brian Clifford had the other goal and Chris Coutu and Marcello Gentile had two assists apiece. Jim Klapman had an assist. Goalie Darren Hersh made 18 saves.
Brendan Monahan scored the goal for Trinity off assists from Todd Carroll and Chris Sheehan. Goalie Mike Esposito made 35 stops.
Holy Cross 3, Colby 2
At Worcester, Mass., Jim Jensen’s goal with 1:25 remaining in the second period broke a 1-1 tie and gave the 5-5 Crusaders the lead for good. Colby is now 3-6.
Mike Shustak made it 3-1 at the 4:27 mark of the third period before Colby’s Keith Gleason scored his second of the game at the 7:52 mark.
Holy Cross’ Bryon Connors had scored the only goal of the first period, but Gleason equalized at the 1:03 mark of the middle period.
Lance Brady had two assists for Holy Cross with Shustak, Mike Clancy and Jensen picking up one apiece. Crusader goalie Mike Kendrot had 27 saves.
Randy Schmitz and Brian Pompeo had assists for Colby and goalie Alex Moody made 23 stops.
