TOWNSHIP A RANGE 2 – A Linneus man remained in the hospital Sunday afternoon with injuries he suffered in a car accident early that morning.
Joseph Kiewra, 18, was headed north about 12:30 a.m. on Route 2A when he swerved to avoid a moose, according to Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputy Vance Palmer.
Kiewra’s 1991 Subaru Legacy crossed the centerline into the southbound lane and then went onto a soft shoulder. The car traveled about 300 feet and rolled over at least twice, the deputy said.
Kiewra was transported by the Houlton ambulance to Houlton Regional Hospital where he was admitted for treatment of unspecified injuries. He had not been wearing a seat belt. The car was a total loss.
Trooper Robert Flynn of the Maine State Police assisted at the accident scene.
