AUGUSTA – The State Medical Examiner’s Office still has not ruled what caused the deaths of a Parkman couple on July 4.

Leon Melvin, 70, and his wife, Ruth Melvin, 76, were discovered dead on Independence Day in their Bennett Pond Road home. The deaths are not being treated as suspicious by the Maine State Police, who believe the couple died from health problems combined with the hot, humid weather.

A spokesman from the State Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday that the office is awaiting the results of some tests taken during the autopsies.
