Maine Times plans monthly magazine Stocks markets rally; Dow soars 260 points Stocks of unsold goods post modest increase

BANGOR – Maine Times will be relaunched early next year, but readers might not recognize the publication.

The new Maine Times will be a monthly, full-color glossy magazine. The former Maine Times, which ceased publication in April, was a weekly tabloid published on newsprint.

Maine Times Publishing Co. announced Wednesday that its targeted readers will be people 30 and older, business owners, legislators and out-of-state residents interested in Maine.

The magazine’s content will include features, profiles, investigative reports, event listings and reviews.

Assistant publisher Christine Taylor said the magazine will offer a mix of lighthearted and serious articles. She said the company expects to hire an editor in the next few weeks.

Maine Times was founded in 1968 and developed a national reputation as one of the leading alternative weeklies in the country.

It has suffered from declining readership and ad revenues in recent years. It shut down for two months in 1999, and again earlier this year.
