LOWELL, Mass. – Bangor amateur boxer Mark MacDonald will be defending his light flyweight title Tuesday and Wednesday in the New England Golden Gloves championships here.

MacDonald, 106 pounds, won his division at the Northern NE Golden Gloves Saturday night in Burlington, Vt., with a unanimous, three-round decision over Steve Duclo.

Semifinals are set Tuesday night and finals Wednesday night with winners qualifying for the National Golden Gloves at Little Rock, Ark., in early March.
