Schoolgirl softball
EAST SULLIVAN – The Sumner High Tigers gained revenge for two previous losses at the hands of Searsport as Susan Lowe three-hit the Vikings 4-1 in schoolgirl softball action here Tuesday.
Lowe only struck out two while walking seven, but was tough in the clutch. The Tigers scored the tying and winning runs in the second with a wild pitch and outfield error sandwiched around a hit.
Abby Seward, Ginny Shaw and Allison Stevens singled for the 7-4 Sumner squad.
For 9-2 Searsport, which had beaten Sumner 17-11 and 12-4 in a recent doubleheader, losing pitcher Jen Russ (4-hitter) and Joy Richard singled and Bree Robert doubled.

At Husson College in Bangor, Shelly Tyrrell singled twice and drove in two runs and pitched a complete game victory to pace Orono to the win.
Heather Dekanich tripled and singled for two RBIs for the 6-5 Red Riots.
For the 4-9 Crusaders, Laura Boober had three singles and two RBIs. Angel Graham doubled twice for two RBIs and Angelina Moore had a single, triple, and two RBIs.

At Bangor High’s field, Becca Kinney pitched a four-hitter as the Rams scored four times in the fifth to pull out the win.
Kinney had 10 strikeouts and two walks for 6-5 Bangor. Michelle Puls tripled and singled with an RBI and Liz Morse drove in two with a pair of singles.
For the Broncos, now 7-5, Jen Craig had a triple and Heather Fortier a double.

At Milo, Piscataquis Community of Guilford evened its record at 6-6 with a 15-hit barrage.
Holly Clukey drove in four runs with three singles for the Pirates, Jen Moore had three RBI on a triple and single, Holly Weymouth had three RBI on two singles and Daralyn Smiley added two hits.
For the 0-11 Patriots, Tammy Olson had a run-producing double with Amanda Haskell, Erica Small and Monique Landry adding singles.

At Mars Hill, pitcher Angela Allen aided her own cause when she drove in the winning run with a solo homer in the fifth as the Central Aroostook Panthers edged their archrivals from Southern Aroostook.
Allen’s homer followed a solo blast from SAHS’ Jill Mathers in top of the fifth.
CAHS rallied for four runs in the fourth inning on four singles highlighted by a two-run single from Duska Hewitt and a one-run single by Nicole Shaw. Hewitt, Shaw, and Stephanie Stiles each finished with two singles for the 8-4 winners.
Janet Corneil doubled and singled for 9-3 SAHS of Dyer Brook and Holly Slauenwhite had an RBI single.

At Washburn, Renae Lavoie turned in a 4-for-4 hitting performance to help the Pioneers of St. Agatha edge the Beavers. Lavoie had four singles.
Michelle Paradis chipped in with two singles and a double for the 2-7 winners. Tonya Michaud and Michelle Ouellette each added three singles. Paradis, Michaud and Ouellette each drove in a run.
Shannon Henthorn hit a two-run homer and single for 0-9 Washburn. Rene Conley and Lindsey Flewelling chipped in with two singles each with Conley driving in a run.

At Danforth, Jen Scott, Jessica White, and Ryan Hornblower each cracked two singles to power the Hawks to their second win against seven losses.
Caroline Meet earned the pitching win for Hodgdon.
For East Grand (1-6), Marie Stoddard drove in four runs with a homer and a single. Liza Shain had three RBI on two doubles and a single. Shelly Page homered and singled.

At Madawaska, Alicia Nason’s game-winning RBI single capped a run of five straight singles with one out in the sixth to give Ashland the come-from-behind win.
Missy Chasse doubled and singled for the 8-4 Hornets. Nason notched the win in relief.
Michelle Hebert doubled and singled for the 5-3 Owls. Jill Dube doubled in a run.

Julie Marquis tripled in two runs and Joy Pelletier added an RBI triple for the 1-8 Crusaders.
