MEXICO – Speed and bad tires were behind a deadly crash Thursday night, police said.

Nate White, 20, of Mexico was killed in the accident on Route 2 near the Peru bridge, police said. The car’s driver, Nathan Cushman, 21, also of Mexico, was hurt.

Police said Cushman was driving east when his car hydroplaned on the wet road, hit a guardrail and then hit a telephone pole broadside.
