The Northern New England Review, a literary journal that is beginning its 25th year, is asking area writers to send in poetry, short stories, and essays.
“We’re hoping to boost our publication of Maine writers,” said Paul Bush, the Review’s publisher. “Last year we had writers from New Harbor, Greenville and Norway, but that’s not nearly enough.”
A panel of readers will begin considering submissions in September, and selected works could be published as early as December, when the 2002 issue comes out.
The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1. The mailing address is NNER, Franklin Pierce College, Rindge, NH 03461.
A maximum of five poems or two short stories or essays can be submitted. The only requirement is that writers live in Maine, Vermont or New Hampshire. Maximum length for short stories and essays is 1,250 words.
Writers are asked to include a two- to three-sentence biography with their contributions. Submissions are not returnable.
The Northern New England Review has been publishing since 1968, and it can be found in nearly every public and college library in Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire.
