Schoolgirl softball
GUILFORD – Tammy Downing hit a three-run double to help pace the Dexter Tigers to ta 13-9 schoolgirl softball victory over host Piscataquis Community here Tuesday.
For the 7-6 Tigers, Chris Downing doubled and singled for two RBIs. Marlene Carnes notched the complete-game win.
Holly Clukey had two doubles and two RBIs for the 8-7 Pirates. Heather Johnson doubled and singled for two RBIs, and Julie Titcomb had two singles and two RBIs.

At Thorndike, Dawn Gagnon singled three times and Shelly Tyrrell scattered three hits as Orono improved to 7-8.
Amy Cota socked two doubles and Jody Eddy added two singles for the Red Riots.
Loser Julie Buffington stroked a two-run single and Lurah Hess an RBI single for 0-12 Mount View.

At Newport, Michelle Puls singled twice and doubled to help pace the Bangor Rams past the host Nokomis Warriors.
Alison Robichaud pitched a four-hitter for the 8-6 Rams and also hit three singles. Kim Sherman doubled twice and singled.
Lynn Dorman hit a solo homer in the fifth and singled for the 1-12 Warriors.

At Milo, Sue Ann Allen singled twice, doubled, and had two RBIs to pace the Central Red Devils to the win over host Penquis.
For the 8-5 Red Devils, Dawn Wood singled twice, doubled, and had four RBIs. Sue Ann Allen and Julie Allen combined on a two-hitter.
For the 1-13 Patriots, Crystal Russell singled twice.

At Woodland, Kelly Dow pitched a four-hitter, struck out 12, and walked seven in addition to hitting an RBI double as Calais defeated Woodland.
For the 9-4 Blue Devils, Lisa Porter singled twice. Andrea Gibson doubled in two runs.
Missy Cox singled twice and had one RBI for the 2-11 Dragons. Amanda McLellan doubled in a run.

At Millinocket, Sarah Kittrick (2-9) pitched a three-hitter to lead the host Stearns Minutemen to victory.
Heather Reardon had three singles and three RBIs for the 2-11 Minutemen. Kristy Wedge singled twice and had two RBIs. Terra McIntyre singled twice.
Angel Basslet hit an RBI single for the 2-12 Vikings.

At Dyer Brook, Jody Brown drove in three runs with a triple and a single and Holly Slauenwhite doubled and singled to lead Southern Aroostook to its 10th win in 14 games.
Janet Corneil had a single and two RBIs for the winners, who concluded their regular season. Jessica Walker improved her record to 9-4 by pitching a three-hitter, striking out four and walking nine.
Brandy Hitchcock doubled for 9-6 Schenck and Nickie Brown and Kristi Coon each had singles.

At Ashland, Renee Saucier tripled, singled twice, and drove in two runs to pace the host Hornets to the win over Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.
For the 11-4 Hornets, Jaymie O’Clair had two singles and two RBIs. Holly Carney tripled in two runs.
Erica Shaw hit a two-run single in the third for 8-7 Central Aroostook’s only hit.
