Brewer, Bucksport, Loring-Limestone, and Houlton all moved on in the District 3 All-Star playoffs Wednesday. In District 2, it was Waldo County, Belfast, and Damariscotta each winning opening-round playoff games.
Bangor East downed Bucksport 12-10 in the District 3 Little League Softball All-Star playoffs.
In District 3 baseball action, Houlton took the driver’s seat in the Aroostook division playoffs with a 13-8 win over Katahdin. Houlton is now 2-0 and will await the winner of the Katahdin vs. Loring-Limestone playoff game Friday at Limestone.
Bucksport beat Bangor East 6-4 and Loring-Limestone downed Border League 7-6 in elimination games. Bucksport will play at 0-1 Hampden in another elimination game Thursday.
Brewer stopped Acadia 6-2, eliminating the Bar Harbor area team. Brewer will play on Monday against the winner of the Bangor West-Old Town game.
Also on Thursday, Bangor West hosts Old Town, Millinocket hosts Coastal, and Brewer travels to Southwest Harbor to play Acadia.
In District 2, Waldo County blanked Camden 3-0, Damariscotta pummeled Rockland 29-0, and Belfast beat Waldoboro 12-4.
Waldoboro plays at Camden Friday while Belfast hosts Waldo County and Damariscotta hosts Knox Suburban on Monday.
In District 3 softball, Bucksport plays at Bangor West Friday in an elimination game. Machias host Bangor East Monday.

At Damariscotta, Greg Rice and Mike Lynon each hit three singles to lead the Damariscotta All-Stars past Rockland.
For 1-0 Damariscotta, Ryan McCarthy, Jason Drake, and Chris Howell each singled twice. Joey Brooks pitched a four-hitter for the win.
Aaron Blastow hit three singles to lead 0-1 Rockland. Deric Prescott had the other single.

At Waldoboro, Josh Pooler pitched a three-hitter, notched 10 strikeouts, walked six, and doubled to lead Belfast to the opening-round win over Waldoboro.
Luke Bradley led 1-0 Belfast with two doubles and a single. Josh Herron singled twice and Josh Sollebello doubled.
For 0-1 Waldoboro, Troy Sproul singled twice.

At Brooks, Matt Cox pitched a two-hitter, struck out 13, and walked two to lead Waldo County to the shutout.
For 1-0 Waldo County, Adam Moore hit a two-run double and Amon Purindon hit an RBI single in the fourth.
Singles by Vinnie Tofani and Malcolm Swan were the only hits by 0-1 Camden. Mike McDonald pitched a six-hitter.

At 14th Street Field in Bangor, Jamie Kenney pitched a seven-hitter and tripled twice to pace Bangor East to the first-round win over Bucksport.
For 1-0 Bangor East, Rachel Kelly tripled and singled for three RBIs.
Meagan Barnard doubled, singled and had two RBIs for 0-1 Bucksport. Lauren Allard singled twice.

At Bucksport, Rick McHale doubled twice to help lead the Bucksport All-Stars to the win which eliminated Bangor East from the playoffs.
For 1-1 Bucksport, John Beck singled twice. Nick Raymond and Buzz Simpson each doubled. Peter Saunders notched the win in relief.
Ryan Lane, Dan DeSalvo, Matt Soucie, and Josh Gray each singled for 0-2 Bangor East.

At Southwest Harbor, Ben Crowell pitched a five-hitter, notched 11 strikeouts and doubled in a run to lead Brewer to an elimination-game win over host Acadia.
For 1-1 Brewer, Jeff McIntosh had three singles, Robbie Kee tripled in a run, and Shawn Reilly had an RBI double.
Jamie Cunningham doubled and singled for an RBI for 0-2 Acadia.

At Patten, Kent Smallwood drove in two runs with a double and a single and Jake Cowperthwaite pitched a complete game, striking out nine, as Houlton posted the victory.
Cowperthwaite drove in two runs with a single and Jerry Hanning doubled and singled for the winners.
For Katahdin Valley, Sam Michaud slammed a two-run homer and a single to drive in three runs. Chris Webb also had a two-run homer.

At Monticello, Loring-Limestone scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth when Shawn Berringer singled, went to third on a single by Doug Evans, and scored on a passed ball.
Ryan O’Connell led Loring-Limestone with two singles. Pitcher Josh Dillon struck out five.
For Border, which was eliminated, nine different players had singles. Pitcher Jason Matheson had seven strikeouts.
