ONE YEAR LATER

Reactions

“I’m some old tired of 9/11 being used as the nation’s scapegoat.

Every mismanaged company that’s going bust blames it on 9/11. Even parents of misbehaving children blame it on 9/11. Changed the lives of every American? Sure. Gave everyone something to blame his problems on.”

“Traveling is perhaps my favorite hobby. I have traveled throughout many parts of the world. My fiancee and I traveled to San Francisco, out of Boston’s Logan Airport, one month prior to the terrorist attacks. Since then I have been unable to get on an airplane, and have driven greater distances than ever before in my life. It has been a pleasure seeing the country in this way, but it’s time to fly again. One year later, I’ve just got my courage back to get on a plane and will fly to Europe for our honeymoon, but not – unfortunately – without much trepidation about the flight and a fear that what happened on 9/11 was but a signal of further terrorist events on the horizon.”

“We completely condemn this very dangerous attack, and I convey my condolences to the American people, to the American president and to the American administration, not only in my name but on behalf of the Palestinian people.”

Yasser Arafat

Palestinian president

“My own personal trials and tribulations seem much less significant. Sort of like the anonymous proverb: “I cried because I had no shoes `til I saw the man who had no feet.”

David Gagner

“We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail.”

President Bush
