BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

After watching the movie, “A League of Their Own,” my memories of playing Little League baseball with the boys and being one of the first girls in baseball in Bayside, N.Y., in 1975 struck a sensitive chord in me. I realize that we girls had great potential to be excellent ball players. Unfortunately, no such opportunity exists for women today.

I wish and hope one day that one or a group of motivated investors will bring back the women’s baseball league. This country is ready to accept women playing professional baseball again. I know that I very interested in playing hardball and I am sure there are other women out there who are interested in playing baseball, as well.

Let’s bring back the excitement and fun that women’s baseball brought to their sports fans of the 1940s and ’50s. If this opportunity cannot be brought forth, let’s honor all those girls who played and are presently involved in Little League baseball from 1974 to the present in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. We need to be recognized for our courage and dedication to play in a “male-dominated sport.” Robbin Miller Bangor
