MOUNT DESERT – The Mount Desert Island Historical Society will hold its annual meeting, followed by a lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Somesville Parish House, Main Street.
Mary Jones, president, will give a society news update and members will elect a new board of directors and officers.
After the annual meeting, guest speaker Caroline MacDonald Pryor, senior project manager at Maine Coast Heritage Trust, will present a slide show and lecture on “Favorite MDI Landscapes: Where Historic Preservation and Land Conservation Meet.”
The historical society has featured an exhibit “Not a Level Field in Town …Yet to Farming We Were Bound: The History of Agriculture on MDI” throughout the summer season that will remain open through Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Sound School House Museum, Route 198.
