BRUNSWICK – Andrew Russo scored three goals to help carry Bowdoin past Husson 5-0 in men’s college soccer action here Wednesday.
Bobby Desilets scored on a penalty kick and tallied three assists while Tom Bresnehan scored a goal. Ethan Roth recorded an assist while Travis Derr and Tom Davis combined to make two saves.
Matt Goodman made 15 saves in net for 0-1 Husson of Bangor while Cliff Urquhart made one save in five minutes of play.
Women’s Soccer
Maine Maritime 1, Unity 0
At Castine, Madawaska’s Meghan Marshall made just one save, but earned a shutout as defense shackled Unity.
Maine Maritime, now 2-0-1, outshot the Rams 22-2 as sophomore Stacy Jones scored the lone goal with seven minutes left in overtime on a Melissa Frost assist.
Kristin Hewitt had nine saves for the 1-3 Rams.
Southern Maine 3, St. Joseph’s 0
At Gorham, Erin Garland scored and had an assist to help lead 1-2 Southern Maine to the win.
Abbie Leonard and Jenny Boucher each added goals while Marcy Ansley and Rachael Kwantz combined for one save on two shots.
Cheryl Northrop stopped seven of the 18 shots she faced for 1-1 Saint Joseph’s of Standish.
Field Hockey
Southern Maine 1, St. Joseph’s 0
At Gorham, Junior midfielder Darci Holland scored the lone goal with 15:07 remaining in the first half to lift 1-1 Southern Maine past Saint Joseph’s of Standish.
Jessie Superchi stopped the one shot she faced for the Huskies.
Mary Tibbets made five saves on 11 shots for the 1-2 Monks.
