Schoolboy soccer
CALAIS – In a “home” game on the Calais field, Clyde Coleman scored his second goal of the game – a header with 15 seconds left in double overtime – to lead his Woodland Dragons to a 3-2 victory over Houlton in schoolboy soccer action here Monday.
For 1-0 Woodland, Coleman also scored off a penalty kick in the first period. Bob Barter scored unassisted in the second and Nate Martell saved 12 of 18 shots.
The 0-4-1 Shiretowners countered with a first-period goal by Joe Socoby off an assist by John Wilmot. Wilmot also assisted on the second goal by Pete Erickson. Goalie Kevin Burleigh had 16 saves on 24 shots.
Madawaska 2, Caribou 1
At Madawaska, Jimmy Keller’s goal with four minutes left in the game off Luke Michaud’s assist gave the host Owls the win.
For 5-0-1 Owls, Mike Lavertu scored on a Keller assist. Scott Carter and Ryan Cyr combined for seven saves on eight shots.
Ryan Walker scored unassisted for the 1-2-1 Vikings. Chris Funk and Jason St. Peter had 16 saves on 20 shots.
Van Buren 3, Limestone 2
At Van Buren, Ryan Beaulieu had the hat trick – all unassisted goals – to lift the host Crusaders to the win.
Todd Ayotte had five saves on eight shots for the Van Buren, now 3-2.
Limestone, 2-5, got both of its goals from Rick Landry. Emery Landry and Danny Huston assisted. John Butts made eight saves on 17 shots.
Fort Fairfield 7, CAHS 1
At Mars Hill, Kirk Demerchant had two goals and an assist to pace Fort Fairfield to the win over the host Central Aroostook Panthers.
For the 4-2 Tigers, Dave Bernard, Jerry Boulier, and Jared Bruce each had a goal and an assist. The other goals were scored by Shawn Willette and Josiah Leighton. Shawn Rogers and Dave Dumond saved 15 of 25 shots.
For 3-3 CAHS, Tyler Brewer scored on a Michael Nomot assist. Joe Rideout had 15 saves on 25 shots.
Fort Kent 2, Presque Isle 0
At Fort Kent, Fort Kent improved to 4-0 behind a strong performance by freshman Jason Stedt.
Stedt had one unassisted goal, and assisted on another by Luke Jandreau. Goalkeeper Chad Boucher made 13 saves on as many shots.
Matt Cassavant recorded 15 saves on 17 shots for the 1-1-1 Wildcats.
