Warriors edge Bears in OT on Corneil score

DYER BROOK – Janet Corneil scored three goals, including the game-winner 39 seconds into overtime, as Southern Aroostook defeated Easton 3-2 in schoolgirl soccer action here Friday.

Jody Brown added an assist for the 3-1 Southern Aroostook Warriors while Diana Goodall made nine saves.

Rene Shalon scored both goals for the 0-5-1 Bears. Colleen Pangburn added an assist. Jamie Hewitt made 18 saves.

Katahdin 2, Lee Academy 1

At Lee, Jodi Dyer scored her second unassisted goal of the game with 4:39 left in the game to give the Cougars a win in the opener for both teams.

Carrie Jo McNally made seven saves on 13 shots for Katahdin.

Kendra Crocker scored the Panda goal 54 seconds into the game. Hollie Raymond made five saves on 10 shots.

Van Buren 1, Ashland 0

At Ashland, Michelle St. Pierre’s corner kick deflected off a Hornet player and into the net to give the Crusaders the win. The goal was the first scored against Ashland in five games this season.

Lori Morrow made 10 saves on 21 shots for 3-1-2 Van Buren.

Alicia Michaud had 11 stops on 15 shots for 3-1-1 Ashland.

Madawaska 2, CAHS 0

At Mars Hill, Debbie Jandreau scored on a penalty kick and assisted on the other goal as the visiting Owls improved to 5-1-1.

Danielle Deschenes scored Madawaska’s first goal early in the second half. Michelle Hebert made six stops on 10 shots.

Emily Lalone had 10 saves on 12 shots for 1-6-1 Central Aroostook.

Hodgdon 4, Washburn 2

At Hodgdon, Wendy Ivey scored one goal and assisted on another, sparking a four-goal eruption in the second half that carried Hodgdon to the come-from-behind win.

Amy Quint, Beth Riley, and Huhnna White each scored for Hodgdon (5-0-1). Jess White added an assist. Goalie Jodi Quint made seven saves, facing 13 shots.

For Washburn, 3-5-1, Melissa Pangburn had two goals, one assisted by Renee Conley. Shannon Hathorne made 13 saves, facing 19 shots.

Bangor 3, Nokomis 0

At Nokomis, the Rams limited Nokomis to six shots on goal in gaining the season-opening win.

Sarah Parcat, Andrea Bassi, and Kathi Fleming scored the Bangor goals. Emillie Bragg had an assist. Laura Jordan made six saves.

Danielle Brown made 15 saves for Nokomis.
