Unbeaten Woodland beats WA for seventh win

High School Soccer

EAST MACHIAS – Shawn Simon, Joe Viselli, and Clyde Coleman each scored unassisted goals, powering unbeaten Woodland to a 3-1 schoolboy soccer victory over host Washington Academy here Thursday.

Nate Martell made two saves in net for the 7-0 Dragons, facing seven shots.

For the 0-5 Raiders, Oliver Hufner scored unassisted. Goalies Jason Ackley and Brian Chamberlain combined to make six saves, facing nine shots.

Schenck 5, Lee Acad. 1

At East Miilonocket, Jeremy Deveau had two goals, both off Tony Turcotte passes, to start off the scoring for Schenck.

Tommy Jamo had two unassisted goals to help improve the Wolverines to 5-2. Jered Stanley had an unassisted goal to round out the scoring for Schenck. Goalie Chris Hale had eight saves on 10 shots.

Jeremy Aldrich scored off a Roger White pass for 3-3-1 Lee Academy. Goalie Jon Cole had 20 saves on 30 shots.

Sumner 13, DI-Stonington 1

At East Sullivan, Jesse Grosjean had four goals to start out the scoring for Deer Isle-Stonington.

Eric Ford and Travis Trail both had two goals apiece. Emil Thomann, Chris Berry, Mike Newbert, Travis Mercier, and Carl Grosjean each had a goal for Sumner. Goalie Mike Bills had two saves on three shots for 3-5 Sumner.

John Steele scored the only goal for the 2-6 Mariners. Goalie Andrew Wendell had 11 saves on 28 shots.

Calais 2, Narraguagus 1

At Calais, Chris Rohde scored off a Eric MacDonald pass to open up the scoring for Calais.

Gary Sousa also scored off a pass from MacDonald to help improve Calais’ record to 3-1-0. Goalie Matt Raye had 15 saves on 15 shots.

Peter Joyce scored off a Dan Curtis pass for 3-2 Narraguagus of Harrington. Goalie Keegan Beal had six saves on 12 shots.

Jonesport-Beals 1, Shead 0

At Eastport, Mike Kinney scored an unassisted goal with 12:52 left in the second to improve the Royals to 3-1-1. Goalie Wayne Dube had five saves on eight shots.

Goalie Aaron Johnson had 12 saves on 16 shots for 1-5 Shead.

Machias 1, Lubec 0

At Lubec, John Sowerwine scored an unassisted goal with 4:00 to go in the first to lead Machais to the win. Goalie Tim Manchester had 12 saves on 16 shots for 3-1-1 Machias.

Goalie Eugene Sylvia had 13 saves on 15 shots for 0-5 Lubec.

Girls Soccer

Woodland 3, BC Pats 0 (OT)

At Woodland, Amanda McLellan started off the scoring with an unassisted goal with eight minutes left in the second half.

Kristina Kelley and Jodi Highland each had unassisted goals for 1-5 Woodland. Goalie Gillian Folley had nine saves on 10 shots.

Goalie Erica Johnson had 12 saves on 16 shots for 0-5 Bangor Christian.

Schenck 1, Lee Acad. 0

At Lee, with 31:51 left to go in the game Kristen Chavarie scored off a Carrie Cram pass to give Schenck of East Millinocket the winning margin.

Goalie Keli Daigle had nine saves on 13 shots for 5-2 Schenck.

Goalies Heidi Osgood and Hollie Raymond combined for 15 saves on 24 shots for 1-6-1 Lee Academy.

So. Aroostook, Ashland tie

At Dyer Brook, Janet Corneil scored all three goals for Southern Aroostook, one of them unassisted. Jill Mathers and Misty Roy both had assists for 5-3-1 SAHS. Goalie Diana Goodall had eight saves on 11 shots.

Celeste Michaud scored two goals for 6-1-2 Ashland. Jennifer Carney scored the other goal to round out the scoring. Goalie Alicia Michaud had 14 saves on 25 shots for Ashland.
