Beers’ goal gives Brewer 1-0 win over Hampden

High School Soccer

Darren Beers’ second-half goal lifted the Brewer Witches past the Hampden Academy Broncos 1-0 in schoolboy soccer action at the Pendleton Street field in Brewer Thursday.

Beers converted a pass from Scott Weiser with 17:41 left in the game for the 5-1-1 winners. Goalkeeper Josh Dennis made four saves on 11 shots.

For Hampden, now 3-3-1, Anders Sollie made five saves on 10 shots.

Bangor Christian, 3-0

At Bangor Christian, Kevin Booker scored two goals as the host Patriots beat Averill of Hinckley.

The game was called early in the second half by mutual consent after an Averill player was injured.

Ryan Mick provided a goal and an assist for the 4-1 Patriots, with Chad Simmons adding an assist. Dave Carson made two saves on three shots.

Terry Malloy made 13 stops on 20 shots for 0-7-1 Averill.

Sumner 13, DI-Stonington

At East Sullivan, Jesse Grossjean had four goals to start out the scoring for Deer Isle-Stonington.

Eric Ford and Travis Trail both had two goals apiece. Emil Thomann, Chris Berry, Mike Newbert, Travis Mercier, and Carl Grossjean each had a goal to round out the scoring for 3-5 Sumner. Goalie Mike Bills had two saves on three shots.

John Steele scored the only goal for 2-6 DI-S. Goalie Andrew Wendell had 11 saves on 28 shots.

Orono 3, John Bapst 1

At Orono, Kevin Churchill had a part in all three Orono goals with a goal and two assists.

Jason White and Nate Ballard had the other two goals for 6-2 Orono. Tim Holmberg had an assist and goalie Evan Stinson had four saves on seven shots.

Shawn Damon scored off a Justin Daigle pass for 3-5 John Bapst of Bangor. Goalie Todd Hunter had nine saves on 14 shots.

Bangor 3, Nokomis 0

At Nokomis, Ryan Maher had two goals to lead the Rams past the Warriors.

Tony Caristi had a goal and an assist for 4-2-1 Bangor. Goalie Pete Ogilvie had three saves on 12 shots.

Goalie Jonathan Parker had eight saves on 17 shots for 1-7 Nokomis.

Mount View 6, Dexter 1

At Thorndike, Luis Neves had four goals to lead Mount View in scoring.

Shawn Weed and Tyson MacDonald also scored for 4-4 Mount View.

Jason Adickes scored the only goal 2-5-1 Dexter off a penalty kick.

Cam.-Rockport 1, GSA 1 (OT)

At Camden-Rockport, Jed Miller scored off a Mike Geisler pass with 2:53 left in the first for Camden’s only goal.

Goalie Justin Hovey had four saves on seven shots for 4-2 Camden.

Adam Gray scored off a Will Holloway pass for 4-1-2 George Stevens. Goalie J.T. Loomis had 15 saves on 20 shots.

MDI 5, Bucksport 1

At Bucksport, David Van Dorn had a hat trick to lead the Mount Desert Island Trojans to the win over the host Golden Bucks.

For the 5-2 Trojans, Peter Voss and Garrick Worcester each scored a goal.

Greg Gobel scored the lone goal for 0-6-1 Bucksport.

Girls Soccer

Woodland 3, BC Pats 0 (OT)

At Woodland, Amanda Mclellan started off the scoring with an unassisted goal with eight minutes left in the second half.

Kristina Kelley and Jodi Highland each had unassisted goals for 1-5 Woodland. Goalie Gillian Folley had nine saves on 10 shots.

Goalie Erica Johnson had 12 saves on 16 shots for 0-5 Bangor Christian.
