FARMINGTON – Kelly LeClerc and Kristen Roy scored goals 16 minutes apart in the first half and Fawn Albert made four saves to collect her second shutout as the University of Maine-Farmington posted a 3-0 field hockey victory over Thomas.
Mary Sinclair added a second-half goal off an Erica Gunderson assist for the 2-1 Beavers. Dorice Reitchel had picked up an assist in the first half.
Jen Lane made seven saves for 1-4 Thomas of Waterville.
Southern Maine 3, Bates 2
At Lewiston, Oakland’s Sarah Dolley scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner with just 59 seconds remaining, and she also had an assist as the University of Southern Maine improved to 3-2.
A Darci Holland pass off a penalty-corner feed set up Dolley’s game-winner. Renee Heath scored the other USM goal and Jessie Superchi made 18 saves on 22 shots.
Julia Price and Annie Schauer scored for 0-3 Bates. Lori Jessup had an assist and Lindsay Gary made eight stops on 13 shots.
Men’s soccer
USM 1, UM-Farmington 0
At Farmington, Zach Ansley converted a penalty kick 17 minutes into the game and Chris Willard made five saves as the University of Southern Maine improved to 2-0-1.
Ryan Hersey turned aside three shots for 2-1 UMF.
Bates 5, St. Joseph’s 1
At Standish, Mike Masi scored two goals as Bates won for the first time after two losses. St. Joseph’s is 1-3.
Brian Luoma scored off the rebound of a Masi shot to open the scoring before Masi scored his first and Cameron Evangelisti got one back for St. Joseph’s.
Josh Myer, Masi and Alex Wolff put the game away in the second half off assists by Terence O’Connell, Nick MacInnis and Sandy Walker, respectively.
Bates’ Chris Mansfield made eight saves on 10 shots for Bates while Jeff Yaeger and Joe Valente combined for 13 on 21 shots for the Monks.
