Thomaston collision leaves four injured

THOMASTON – A head-on collision Friday on Route 1 in the downtown sent four people to the hospital.

Sgt. Michael Janczura of the Thomaston police said the accident was reported at 1:42 p.m.

The accident occurred when Janice Edelstein, 61, of Mill Valley, Calif., crossed the centerline as she was traveling east. Her 2002 Oldsmobile struck the 2001 Buick driven west by Shirley Eising, 56, of Lake City, Mich.

Eising’s two passengers, her daughters, Kim Anderson, 33, of Lake City, Mich., and Tracy Cinco, 30, town unknown, Mich., were taken by ambulance to Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport. A nursing supervisor said Cinco was transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland; Anderson was treated and released.

Edelstein and a man believed to be her husband were still being evaluated in the emergency room, the nursing supervisor said Friday evening.
