VEAZIE – The Veazie Fire Department presented Marjorie Jordan a plaque in thanks for a financial gift to the town in memory of her husband, Frank W. Jordan Sr., a Veazie firefighter who died Dec. 5, 2001.

Fire Chief Gerry Martin presented the appreciation award to Mrs. Jordan and her son, Frank Jordan Jr., during a recent meeting of the Town Council.

The memorial gift was used to replace a long board and add a stair chair. The chair will be used to help bring people down stairs or out of tight places where a stretcher would not fit.

The Veazie Fire Department recently upgraded its emergency medical license to the intermediate level. This will allow trained members to start IVs, provide medications, use intubation equipment and use manual defibrillators.

Two members of the department are licensed at this level, and plans are to send four more people for training.
