Plow rolls over when brakes fail

BELFAST — Highway Department driver Burt Hamilton was uninjured when his plow truck rolled over Sunday night.

Police Chief Robert Keating said Hamilton, 29, of Belfast was plowing and sanding the Head of Tide Road at 9:45 p.m. when the accident occurred. Keating said the 1974 International stalled while climbing a hill, causing the air brakes to fail. The truck proceeded downhill backward toward the Doak Road Bridge and rolled into a ditch. Damage to the truck was extensive. Sgt. Rosario Michaud investigated the accident.
