BANGOR – Maine PBS will air a live debate between the candidates for 2nd Congressional District beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, from the ballroom at the College Center at University College of Bangor. The event will be rebroadcast on Maine Public Radio at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7.
Democrat Michael Michaud and Republican Kevin Raye, who are vying for the seat being vacated by John Baldacci, have committed to participating. The event is being co-sponsored by the Margaret Chase Smith Center, which is partnering with Maine PBS and Maine Public Radio for Election 2002 coverage. After the formal debate, there may be some additional time for the candidates to take questions from the public.
This is a general-topic debate; all campaign issues are open for the candidates to address. The event will be moderated by John Greenman, Maine PBS’ public affairs producer, and Susan Chisholm, Maine Public radio’s deputy news director.
