EAST MILLINOCKET – Eastern Maine Technical College, along with the University of Maine System, will hold a grand opening celebration for its expanded higher education center from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at 1 Industrial Drive.

The Katahdin Region High Education Center, formerly known as KATEC, will have its grand opening ceremonies at 2 p.m. and will include the dedication of the Michael H. Michaud Community Room at 2:45 p.m.

The center serves a number of residents in the Katahdin Region and offers 25 live instruction courses. The center also links students enrolled in interactive television, or ITV, courses at four sites through the Katahdin Region with the University of Maine System. For more information, call 974-4691.
